Actress Nisha Yadav aka Ameesha Yadav who shot to fame with her film on corruption inspired by Anna Hazare’s struggle against corruption, celebrated her birthday on Thursday in Mumbai with street kids. She went to a home for orphans and street kids in the morning and sponsored a party for the little brats who were surprised at the gifts that Nisha brought them. “Normally on my birthday, my friends would give me gifts. This year, I decided to give some under privileged kids some gifts on my birthday. I am happy that the kids enjoyed the party, including the special lunch that we arranged for them,” says Nisha who turned 22 on Thursday.

Nisha who is currently shooting for a Tamil film has also been signed on for two more Bollywood movies. She recently completed shooting for a Punjabi music video and is also part of a reality show which goes on air next week. “I am shooting almost five days a week,” she says adding that she is thankful for the support that she has got from the south film industry, particularly Tamil directors and producers.

Apparently, just before entering the Bigg Boss House, item girl Shradha Sharma confessed to a TV reporter that Raja Chaudhary is a closed chapter in her life and that she is completely “out of him now”. She also revealed that she is in love again and that there is a new man – a secret lover in her life. She however refused to mention the name of the person and said that she would tell all after she was in the Bigg Boss house. “Yes he is from the film industry and is a successful and well-known actor. I don’t want to reveal any more details right now. You must ask me about Bigg Boss and the other participants and how I will tackle them. That is why you are here. I will talk about my love life once I am out of the Bigg Boss house. I accept there is somebody new in my life and I am in love, but I am not prepared to say any more at this stage,” she had explained to the journalist.

Dj Jenny D – Shradha’s good friend when contacted said that Shradha Sharma is very much in love. She is very happy and as a good friend, I am too very happy for her, but I can’t give you the name of her boyfriend. You must ask her when she is out of Bigg Boss. We hope she has a long and happy stay in the Bigg Boss House. When asked about Shradha’s recent so-called ‘wardrobe malfunction’ on Bigg Boss, Dj Jenny D denied it. “This is just part of the gossip campaign around the show. I don’t think such a thing ever happened. Shradha is very careful about her outfits, particularly when she knows that her actions are being watched by several cameras.

Bigg Boss 5 contestant and Raja Chaudhary’s ex-girlfriend Shradha Sharma may definitely have some explaining to do, if Bhojpuri and Tamil actress Neesha Yadav is to be believed. Neesha Yadav has openly accused Shradha Sharma of two-timing Raja Chaudhary and “using” him to foster and augment her own career graph. Says Neesha Yadav, “I know Raja Chaudhary for the last three years. It was quite apparent that Raja Chaudhary was madly in love with Shradha after his failed marriage with Shweta Tiwari, but Shradha Sharma was two and three-timing Raja Chaudhary. She used him to get where she eventually wanted to – in the Bigg Boss House. And when she realized her goals were in sight she dumped him unceremoniously.

When asked about the fights between Raja and Shradha, Neesha said that Shardha was to blame because Raja used to get angry when he realized that Shradha was two-timing him. Shradha Sharma who is in the Bigg Boss house could not be contacted for her version, but her ‘good-friend’ Dj Jenny D dismissed all these allegations. Shradha Sharma is a very nice girl. She cannot two-time anyone and she was fond of Raja while they were in a relationship. Neesha Yadav is just trying to rake up the issue now that Shradha is in the Bigg Boss house,” she claimed.

Shradha Sharma’s publicist said he would not comment on these allegations.

On Tuesday Dj Jenny D was harassed and molested by guess who? Well the culprits in this case have long fled the scene of crime and the cops for once can do nothing about it. The culprits in this case were a couple of pesky cockroaches and a mouse who kept on running between Dj Jenny D’s legs and feet while she was travelling in the first class compartment of a local train on the Western Railway in Mumbai. Dj Jenny D has mentioned this on the news blog she is the guest editor of: Mumbaiwire.

According to Dj Jenny D, “I had gone to visit a very senior DJ who is also an instructor and had just recovered from a very serious ailment – at Colaba the southern-most tip of Mumbai on Tuesday evening. As it was the peak traffic hour, taking a taxi to the other side of town would mean getting stuck in the mad evening traffic for almost two hours. So we decided to travel by train and took a train from Churchgate. This is on the Western Railway. We had bought first class tickets and we boarded the train hoping for a peaceful journey. After the train crossed Dadar station, suddenly almost out of nowhere about 3 cockroaches and a small mouse popped up and kept on running beneath the seats. They were running between the feet of the commuters, some of whom were almost dozing off to sleep after a hard day’s work. We tried to shoo them away with a newspaper but without much success. The mouse and the cockroaches just kept coming back and running between our feet with sheer impunity.”

Dj Jenny D has decided to write an official complaint to the General Manager of the Western Railway. “I know nothing will come out of it and the mice, cockroaches and other pests will continue to hold sway over the local trains in Mumbai like the pickpockets, urchins and beggars who torment commuters, but yet I am doing my bit by making this issue public,” she says.

Firebrand and outspoken Mumbai-based actress and DJ, Jenny D has lent her support – along with several others from Bollywood to an outreach program for orphans and street children. The project is called Living with Dignity and is organized by the R S Ruia Charitable Trust, Mumbai. The project will involve a series of outreach visits to orphanages in Mumbai by volunteers of the R S Ruia Charitable Trust which is also contributing financially and in kind to these orphanages.

Says Ajoykaant Ruia, chairman of the R S Ruia Trust, “As part of our on-going charitable activities we have envisaged the Living with Dignity program which includes financial and other donations in kind like utility items, clothes, books and shoes to orphanages in Mumbai. Besides the field work, a social networking campaign on Facebook at www.facebook.com/living.with.dignity is also online to create awareness about the need to support orphans and street kids who are our future. We are thankful for the support we have received from certain Bollywood personalities as well as our sponsors for this activity.”

Dj Jenny D said it was her proud privilege to be associated with this project. “There are hundreds of street kids in cities like Mumbai who do not have a decent roof over their heads, nor do they have opportunities for education and vocational training to make them self-sufficient. I am glad that the R S Ruia Trust has begun this activity which will probably help several hundred street kids in Mumbai. I hope more Bollywood stars get involved in this project and invite all my friends from the film industry to join me in morally supporting this project.”

Indo-British filmmaker Avtar Bhogal’s controversial film Honour Killings set in London, India and Pakistan is geared to release soon. The film brings together on a common platform well-known actors from England, India and Pakistan who tackle the subject with the passion and sensitivity that the topic demands.

The film exposes the negative side of the upper communities who will even kill their own family members to save the so-called family honour. Bhogal is known for his other controversial projects that deal with women’s issues like rape, marital rape, violence, sexual exploitation etc and this film is no different. It very boldly covers the subject in detail across two continents and cultures. Bhogal has spent a fortune on making the film and the 4 main songs are well picturised and shot in UK, India and Pakistan, he says.

The film is bound to raise eyebrows when it releases but Bhogal is non perturbad. “When I decided to make this film, I knew there would be some opposition to the subject. It is based on true stories and I am presenting the facts as they are,” he explains.

Dj Jenny D has wished her good friend Shradha Sharma all the best for her stint in Bigg Boss 5. Shradha Sharma is one of the participants of season 5. “Shradha is a very hard working girl. She is a very good dancer and I just hope she wins Bigg Boss 5,” said Dj Jenny D adding
that all her friends would definitely vote to support Shradha Sharma to ensure she was not evicted. Meanwhile Shradha’s manager Flynn Remedios said that she has put all her acting assignments on hold for the time being and cancelled all stage show performances till December. Shradha hopefully will be one of the favourite participants on the show and we pray that she makes it to the final three at least if not winning the title, said Flynn Remedios. Shradha who was last seen on Emotional Atyachaar and Love Lockup on Bindaas channel has purposely kept a very low profile the last one month unlike some of the other participants on the show.

An antique 170-year-old book – the complete works of William Shakespeare, which is up for sale could fetch up to Rs One Crore, said Dj Jenny D who is anchoring a show for a TV channel that talks about such exotic and esoteric items. The original owner of the book – an advertising professional and a resident of Lokhandwala in Mumbai preferred to remain anonymous, but said that he was the proud owner of the book which has been handed down to him from generations. “In all probability this book is a family heirloom and my great grandfather must have purchased it almost over a 100 years ago, says the 50 plus collector who has a huge collection of old newspapers having historical headlines like a copy of the Times of India the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated. He has a collection of various other old newspapers like the first landing of man on the moon, Jawaharlal Nehru’s death, Indira Gandhi’s assassination, etc. He also owns copies of all Femina editions of the Miss India pageant and various other old copies of Time and Newsweek.

The super book though is not in a pristine condition. “Unfortunately, its cover is torn and the pages have faced the wear and tear of time. The pages have become brittle which is not surprising given the fact that the book was printed in 1841 and has seen the changes in the weather, atmospheric changes and pollution which has taken a great toll on this antique piece of literature which can almost be considered as a relic,” said Dj Jenny D, explaining that the book has original lithographic prints and designs which were used during that period. The owner of the book is trying to officially authenticate the actual age of the book by using a Carbon dating technique, but though has he has knocked on the doors of many laboratories they have all turned down his request. The Forensic and Chemical Laboratory at Kalina in suburban Mumbai which does such tests refused to test the book on the grounds that they only work on Government assignments (like murder cases or drug testing and identification in Narcotics cases) and cannot take on assignments from civilians, said Dj Jenny D.

The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre or BARC which is also equipped to test such samples also refused to entertain the book collector on some what similar grounds. His last recourse seems to be the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore and he is hopeful that the IIS will help him.

If sources are to be be believed, Mumbai-based, 50-plus architect and graphics designer Shasshikant Bhomavat is penning down his memoaires. While this may not interest most people at first, the important issue that will probably make the whole of India take notice is the fact that Shasshi Bhomavat was the walking partner of none other than India’s biggest and richest entrepreneur and industrialist the late Dhirubhai Ambani.

While no further information was available and Shasshi Bhomavat remained unreachable, it seems that Dhirubhai Ambani and Shasshi Bhomavat used to take a morning walk almost every day from Haji Ali to Worli. According to our sources, Shasshi writes in his book which is co-authored by an ex- senior business journalist with the Economic Times, “From 1982-1984 DA and I used to have a morning walk at Worli sea face, but the reality was that he used to walk and I used to jog. Imagine his speed of walking while I was jogging he was ahead of me. And he used to cover the entire stretch of Worli seaface about 3 times,” Shasshi writes in his book. Shasshi used to run an advertising company with his office at Nariman Point in South Mumbai and Dhirubhai Ambani owned Mudra – now one of the biggest ad agencies and media setups in India. Apparently, Dhirubhai who was quite friendly with Shasshi, used to ask himi for info on the ad-industry in Mumbai and even offered him an opportunity to head Mudra at that time.

During this brisk daily walk, Dhirubhai did share a lot of family secrets including the lives and careers of his two sons. At times, he even vented out his frustration telling personal family secrets to Shasshikant Bhomavat. More details are not available at this stage but the book is supposed to be about 250-odd very informative pages and pregnant with top-secret family information including the Ambani brothers “friendships” with Bollywood personalities and actresses. We were not able to validate all the information but we tried to get in touch with Dj Jenny D who is working on an audio-visual project with Shasshi Bhomavat. When we asked her about this book, the otherwise outspoken and brash Dj Jenny D quipped, “I know that Shasshi is working on such a book but I have no more details as I am on a totally different project.” She refused to answer any further questions on the subject.

Another walking partner whom we managed to contact said that Dhirubhai was quite candid about his sons transgressions if we may call them so and shared a lot of intimate family issues with his 2-3 good friends. It seems that the entire Bollywood were friends with the young Ambani brothers and they were the darlings of the ladies. We will have to wait and watch till the book comes out to bring you more details. And given the fact that the Ambanis’ are fiercely guarded about their personal lives it remains to be seen if the book is even allowed to be distributed in India. We just hope it doesn’t meet the fate that The Polyester Prince by Hamish MacDonald did?

IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi met Reliance Industries chairman and Mumbai Indians owner Mukesh Ambani today (22 April, 2010) and according to TV news reports sought his support and help. Mukesh Ambani is known to be close to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other senior Congress politicians, including the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The meeting took place in the backdrop of the first IPL-3 semi-final, against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The Mumbai Indians won by 35 runs and will meet the winner of Thursday’s semi-final between the Deccan Chargers and the Chennai Super Kings in the final on Sunday.

According to the Times of India:

Beleagured IPL commissioner Lalit Modi on Thursday paid a surprise visit to Maker Chambers IV, the Reliance Industries office in South Mumbai, from where the conglomerate’s chairman and owner of Mumbai Indians Mukesh Ambani operates.

Modi walked into the building at around 3.30pm and stayed put for over an hour. Highly placed sources said he “requested a meeting with Ambani and was granted a few minutes”. During his meeting over a cup of tea, Modi, it is learnt, sought support from the franchise. However, the outcome of the conversation wasn’t known.

Modi also met a couple of other RIL officials, including Nikhil Meswani, before bidding goodbye. Modi was clad in all-white when he walked into his BMW and left. A couple of days ago, RCB owner Mallya had come out in Modi’s support. However, TOI has learnt that there are not many franchisees at the moment who are ready to stand by him.
