Then how can sex be far behind. According to a highly confidential income tax source, several high-class known (within Bollywood circles) call girls who call themselves actresses or models and C-grade actresses and models were allegedly hired or enlisted by a certain personality and his cronies – now under investigation by a myriad of agencies – within the IPL to provide sexual gratification to clients, sponsors, benefactors and patrons.

While we have the names of the so-called cheer-leaders or actresses who added the glamour component to the IPL parties, we will refrain from mentioning them and wait for the Income Tax department to spell it out. CNN IBN, Headlines Today and Times Now reported on Thursday that the IT department is investigating and looking into the monies paid to cheer leaders and others who added the glam component. The IT sleuths want to know who hired them, who paid them and how much was paid to them and for what kind of services. It has also come out that many of them were paid huge amounts in cash – something that a body like the IPL should have never done.

According to Flynn Remedios, author of the yet-to-be published IPLgate – the mother of all Indian cricket scams, Apparently, it transpires that certain “cheer leaders” and glam dolls or sex dolls were paid far more than what any one would have paid a cheer leader. What the IT is now trying to find out is what other services were provided by the so-called cheer leaders and glam dolls for the exorbitant payments doled out to them by a very generous IPL. Or did the glam dolls substantially hike up the financial valuations of the IPL and its teams and how did they? Will somebody please tell the poor Indian cricket enthusiast?

Meanwhile according to a report in the Times of India, IPL commissioner Lalit Modi’s role in connection with the purchase of heritage havelis in the protected Amer Palace zone has come under the scanner of the Rajasthan government.

The Rajasthan government is mulling action against both Modi and his wife Minal, who as directors of a company, were allegedly involved in the purchase of the heritage buildings or havelis..

An inquiry by the Jaipur divisional commissioner into the issue has confirmed that the protected havelis were purchased as private properties four years back. Amer Heritage City Construction Pvt Ltd, which later changed its name to Ananda Heritage Hotels, with Lalit Modi and his wife as directors, had purchased four government havelis. Bina Kak, state tourism minister said that she had got the inquiry report.

 NCP politician and aviation minister Praful Patel’s daughter in charge of hospitality at the IPL was sent a confidential email from Lalit Modi’s office which was later on passed on to Shashi Tharoor. According to TV reports, Poorna Patel who was in charge of hospitality had no business to posses or receive that email. While Praful Patel has vehemently denied that the email was confidential and claims that the email was routine and ‘in public domain’, it is very obvious, say reports that the email was sent to apparently mislead Tharoor and his coterie. 

Poorna Patel was as her father claimed a very junior employee at the IPL and was working for pocket money. The question is why was a junior employee was sent a valuation document received directly from the IPL Commissioner’s office. IPL CEO Sundar Raman is alleged to have sent the email on instructions from Lalit Modi to Praful Patel’s daughter Poorna Patel. He later in the day asserted that he had no idea why Poorna Patel forwarded that email to her father’s office which in turn was forwarded to Shashi Tharoor.

What the IPL CEO forgot to answer was why in the first place did he as CEO send a financial document to a junior employee in the hospitality department.

IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi met Reliance Industries chairman and Mumbai Indians owner Mukesh Ambani today (22 April, 2010) and according to TV news reports sought his support and help. Mukesh Ambani is known to be close to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other senior Congress politicians, including the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The meeting took place in the backdrop of the first IPL-3 semi-final, against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The Mumbai Indians won by 35 runs and will meet the winner of Thursday’s semi-final between the Deccan Chargers and the Chennai Super Kings in the final on Sunday.

According to the Times of India:

Beleagured IPL commissioner Lalit Modi on Thursday paid a surprise visit to Maker Chambers IV, the Reliance Industries office in South Mumbai, from where the conglomerate’s chairman and owner of Mumbai Indians Mukesh Ambani operates.

Modi walked into the building at around 3.30pm and stayed put for over an hour. Highly placed sources said he “requested a meeting with Ambani and was granted a few minutes”. During his meeting over a cup of tea, Modi, it is learnt, sought support from the franchise. However, the outcome of the conversation wasn’t known.

Modi also met a couple of other RIL officials, including Nikhil Meswani, before bidding goodbye. Modi was clad in all-white when he walked into his BMW and left. A couple of days ago, RCB owner Mallya had come out in Modi’s support. However, TOI has learnt that there are not many franchisees at the moment who are ready to stand by him.

News reports have suggested that senior BCCI officials including BCCI President Shashank Manohar may not attend the IPL Awards Night next week. This decision by the BCCI has also been communicated to other franchises, news reports have suggested.

Meanwhile Shashank Manohar claimed in a TV interview that there were documents including confidential and crucial bid papers which even senior BCCI officials have not seen or are not aware of.

 Meanwhile BCCI governing council member Mansur Ali Khan alias Tiger Pataudi has claimed in a TV interview that in introspection the entire governing body of the BCCI must take responsibility for the IPLgate and step down.

According to the Times of India:

When the final of IPL-3 gets under way in Mumbai on Sunday, the BCCI top brass will be missing. It might well be IPL commissioner Lalit Modi’s last hurrah as he sits through the match to be followed by the awards presentation and a gala later on.

The BCCI bosses are understood to have decided that by not turning up for what is Indian cricket’s premier tourney, they will have distanced themselves from Modi and what they see as his unsalubrious influence on the sport. It would set the stage for the governing council meeting of April 26 where they intend to remove Modi as IPL chief.

In an indication of what could transpire at the IPL governing council, the Board members have already voicing their views in the media against Modi over the last couple of days and the numbers game seems to be turning against the cricket whiz. Though he has chosen to dig in his heels, the “boycott” of the final will be the establishment’s rebuff while also driving home Modi’s isolation.

Apart from Modi, the governing council members include Shashank Manohar, N Srinivasan, Sanjay Jagdale, M P Pandove, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, M A K Pataudi, Arun Jaitley, Rajiv Shukla, I S Bindra, Chirayu Amin and Farooq Abdullah.

Events have moved quickly since BCCI brass met at Dharamshala a little more than a week ago and went into a huddle to discuss anti-Modi strategy. Thereafter, Manohar’s visit to Delhi earlier this week saw him make a direct appeal to ICC president-elect Sharad Pawar to drop his advocacy for Modi.

Twice this week, PM Manmohan Singh has been briefed by BCCI vice-president and Congress MP Rajiv Shukla on the Board’s steps to clean up IPL.

A major robbery took place at the office of Bollywood publicist, free lance journalist, scriptwriter and film director Flynn Remedios’ office in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. His video editor has been named as the main accused by the police.

According to a complaint filed by Flynn Remedios at the Versova police station on 9th December, he was working on some music video project and had hired the services of a free lance video editor Alok Singh to help him in the editing of the music video. The duo was working late night in the studio when Flynn Remedios decided to take a short nap. When he woke up after about 1.5 hours he found that two laptops, about 18 very expensive mobile phones, 5 pocket hard disks of varying capacities, his hand bag containing cash about Rs 40,000/- and various other belongings were missing including his wrist watch which he had left on the editing table. The video editor Alok Singh was not to be seen and the room had been literally wiped clean, except for the heavy desktop AVID and FCP machines.

He immediately called the police control room and a mobile police van reached the spot in about ten minutes. The Versova police have registered an FIR (FIR No 359/09) u/s 381 for theft and have named the absconding video editor Alok Singh as the main accused in the crime. The total value of the stolen physical goods is about Rs 5 lakh, but the value of the data and the freshly shot video footage would run into several lakh rupees, said Flynn Remedios, adding, “I trusted the man completely. Every day I would order his favorite biryani for dinner from a nearby restaurant. Even on Tuesday night, we had our dinner and I told him that I was going to sleep for an hour. I even told him to wake me up in short while as we had a shoot the next morning and had a call time of 7 am.  He has stolen my hard disks and about ten pen drives which had video footage worth several lakh rupees. I was working on two music videos and one film which I had directed. All the partly edited footage was stored on the portable hard disks. He should have at least left behind the hard disks which he knew had all the data.”
